Ann Louise Gittleman, author of The Fat Flush Plan, when speaking of Jonny Bowden’s book Living Low Carb (Revised Edition), says “If there’s anything you want to know about low-carbing, this is the book for you! Jonny Bowden has created an invaluale and encyclopedic health resource that belongs on every shelf.” I couldn’t agree more.
Living Low Carb is probably the most comprehensive book about the various low carb diets you will find, analyzing and comparing 38 well-known diet plans and fitness programs. Making this book even more valuable is all the great information Mr. Bowden has packed into his writing as well. From the origins of low carb living all the way to great modern day low carb resources, it’s all in there. I especially love how he gets into the science of low carb living. He explains how it works and why today’s SAD (Standard American Diet) recommendation of low fat, high carbohydrate living is counterproductive to what we are trying to accomplish.
If you are worried about all those horrible ailments people say you’ll end up with if you follow a low carb regimine, worry no more. Jonny breaks down those myths and stomps on them with a large steel-toed boot, leaving them for dead in crumpled bits. You can’t argue with science this solid. He also offers tips and tricks or maintaining your low-carb lifestyle, as well as some fantastic ways to beat those obstacles that might be holding you back.
This book is now among those on my essentials list. Whether you are new to low carb living, or have been doing it for years, as I have, you won’t regret owning this wonderful book.
