One of the biggest lamentations I hear about low-carb living is the lack of convenience foods. If you have a job or schedule that requires you to constantly be on the go, it can be a challenge. You can pre-cook a lot of food and keep it in a cooler nearby, but that doesn’t always work out either. For those that don’t mind a little “frankenfood” now and then, you do have the options of products like Atkins Day Break Cherry Pecan Bars.
Atkins Day Break Cherry Pecan Bars…Better Tasting but…
Atkins Day Break Cherry Pecan Bars are one of the better-tasting low-carb bars available. It’s not over-sweet, has a nice hint of cherry, and it’s chewy like the granola bars I ate way back when. I could also taste the pecan, thanks to nice-sized chunks mixed in with the granola. It seems to do a nice job of taming the sweet craving and giving you that enjoyable, clean fruit taste at the same time.
I have to talk a moment about the ingredient list. It’s long. It also contains a few ingredients I’d be happier to avoid, such as vegetable oils, soy and maltitol. If you prefer to keep the carb counts a little more to the wire, and you count the sugar alcohols, your net carbs are 11 grams. If sugar alcohols don’t bother you, and you are comfortable deducting them, your net carbs will be a more comfortable 6 net grams.
