What is the Belly Fat Cure?
Jorge Cruise’s newly released Belly Fat Cure Book is all about losing weight simply by keeping your insulin levels low. The key to the plan is the product label. There are two simple rules to the plan:
- Stay within a Sugar/Carbohydrate count of 5 grams of sugar/2 servings of carbohydrates per meal and 15 grams of sugar /6 servings of carbohydrates for the day.
- Remove all artificial sweeteners from your diet. The Sugar number is 5 grams per meal and 15 grams per the day. Completely straightforward, right? The Carbs are a little more complex. First, it is important to note that unlike Atkins, you do not subtract Sugar Alcohols or Fiber from your Carb total. No Net Carbs or Effective Carbs – just straight Carbs.
Then we need to convert the carbs from grams to servings. The 2 servings per meal and 6 servings per day represent a range of carbohydrate grams:
0g – 4g | = 0 servings |
5g – 20g | = 1 servings |
21g – 40g | = 2 servings |
41g – 60g | = 3 servings |
61g – 80g | = 4 servings |
81g – 100g | = 5 servings |
101g – 120g | = 6 servings |
Oh, the math! The Carbs servings can trip you up in the beginning, but once you get it down, it all makes sense. In theory you could have up to 40 grams of Carbs per meal and 120 grams per day, but your goal is not to max them out.
For example, we are going to have a taco:
- La Tortilla Factory Smart & Delicious Low Carb tortilla = 1g Sugar/18g Carbs
- Green Mountain Gringo Salsa = 0g Sugar/2g Carbs
- Chicken = 0g Sugar/0g Carbs
- Cheese = 0g Sugar/0g Carbs
- Romaine = 1g Sugar/0g 2 Carbs
The total is 2 grams Sugar/22 grams Carbs for a total S/C Value of 2/2.
Why Reading Food Labels is Important on the Belly Fat Cure
The second key to reading a label on the Belly Fat Cure is scanning for any artificial sweeteners in the ingredients. Do not assume that if a product that says “No Sugar Added” or even “All Natural” it doesn’t have them. I have found Aspartame and Splenda hidden in several products that I would never have suspected. So read every label all the way through.
Why do you have to get rid of the artificial sweeteners on the Belly Fat Cure, including Sucralose/Splenda, Aspartame, and Saccharin. A longtime mainstay of many diets, it turns out they don’t actually curb your sweet tooth. Instead, they train us to think that everything should taste sweet and we in turn, continue to crave it. Here, you are encouraged to use natural sweeteners, like those made with Stevia or Sugar Alcohols and thus, completely eliminate your sugar cravings altogether.
The plan is very basic, but makes some very strong points. The Belly Fat Cure book itself, while a little short on explanation, has over 100 recipes or “Carb Swaps” and many examples of “Good Belly” over “Bad Belly” choices.
