In the past few years, scientists have discovered that a contributing factor to Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia is insulin resistance. In fact, some researchers are now referring to Alzheimer’s Disease as type 3 diabetes, an illness which affects only the brain. People who suffer from this condition are unable to accept glucose into their brain cells (neurons) and as a result, those cells starve.
